ICAN implements e-marking in six months and takes the first step to digital assessment

RM Education worked with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a professional body that marks more than 90,000 exams a year, to modernize assessment and improve the security, integrity, and efficiency of its exam process. ICAN’s main challenge was to introduce e-marking in just six months while also creating a flexible platform that could support future growth and a move toward digital assessment.

RM Education implemented RM Assessor, starting with a pilot and then integrating the system with ICAN’s existing systems, setting up data feeds, and training examiners. Within six months, ICAN was ready to use e-marking, which sped up marking, automated collation and verification, improved quality through anonymization and seeding, reduced paper handling and transport costs, and even helped ICAN add an extra senior exam session and expand e-marking into junior exams.
