How the technically advanced WMG Academy benefited from Google Classroom to evolve their method of teaching during the Coronavirus lockdown

WMG Academy Coventry and WMG Academy Solihull, University Technical Colleges focused on STEM education, needed a way to keep teaching and learning going during the Coronavirus lockdown while supporting staff, students and safeguarding requirements. RM Education had already been their technology partner through its Flex Service, and the academies relied heavily on cloud-based IT and Google tools to support lessons, administration and remote working.

RM Education helped the academies quickly extend their use of Google Classroom and Google Meet, training staff and students for remote learning and enabling secure communication, recorded meetings and ongoing online staff briefings. The result was a smooth move to blended and remote teaching, with over 1,500 Google Meetings held since lockdown, continued professional development and strong engagement from parents and students, showing that the academies could keep operating effectively despite the disruption.
