Case Study: Ridgewood High School accelerates remote learning with RM Education and Microsoft Teams

A RM Education Case Study

Preview of the Ridgewood High School Case Study

How the Coronavirus led to a speeding up of one school’s move to the cloud – with an investment in Microsoft Teams – at a Secondary Academy in the West Midlands

Ridgewood High School, a secondary academy in the West Midlands, was just beginning to explore cloud-based working when the coronavirus outbreak forced a rapid shift to remote learning. With only limited early use of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, the school needed to keep teaching, communication, and student access to work running for more than 660 pupils while buildings were closed to most children.

RM Education helped Ridgewood High School accelerate its move to the cloud by supporting Microsoft Teams, SharePoint permissions, RM Unify single sign-on, remote workstation access, and staff training materials. The school quickly expanded Teams from one teacher to the whole staff and then all students, created tutor group Teams and video guides, and found that remote learning became the normal way of working; after 13 weeks, all teachers were using the technology daily, and the school reported the pandemic had significantly sped up its longer-term cloud strategy.
