Case Study: Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent enhances remote learning with RM Education and Google Classroom

How an already technologically advanced Academy in Stoke-on-Trent used Google Classroom to enhance remote learning during the Coronavirus outbreak

Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent is a secondary school in Staffordshire that already had a strong digital foundation, but the Coronavirus outbreak forced it to move teaching fully online and support students remotely. Working with RM Education, the academy needed a way to keep lessons, communication and support running smoothly while staff and students were away from the classroom, using Google Classroom and related Google tools as the main platform.

RM Education helped the academy build and support its “virtual school” by supporting the move to Google Classroom, Google Meet/Hangouts and cloud-based working, as well as providing ongoing technical support from an onsite technician and the wider RM team. The result was a rapid and effective transition to remote learning, with 71% of students completing lessons through the virtual school and staff becoming more confident with new online tools and teaching methods.
