How ACCA doubled exam capacity with e-marking

ACCA, the global professional accounting body behind the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant qualification, needed to make its assessments more flexible and realistic for employers and students. Working with RM Education and its RM Assessor platform, ACCA set out to move from two exam sessions a year to four and to shift key exams from paper-based delivery to computer-based testing without losing exam rigour or security.

RM Education helped ACCA reduce the full exam lifecycle from 26 weeks to 13 weeks by shortening scanning and marking time from seven weeks to five through embedded e-marking in RM Assessor. The solution also enabled on-screen marking of computer-based responses, including complex constructed-response questions, while supporting ACCA’s global security model. As a result, ACCA doubled exam capacity, improved turnaround times, and began rolling out computer-based exams for its Fundamental level exams from September 2016.
