Case Study: Bures Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School achieves blended learning with RM Education and Microsoft Teams

A RM Education Case Study

Preview of the Bures Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School Case Study

How a rural Primary School used the offer of a Government funded Remote Learning platform to transform their school to one where “blended learning” is the future

Bures Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, a rural primary school on the Essex/Suffolk border, worked with RM Education when the COVID-19 lockdown forced it to move quickly to remote teaching. The school had some online tools already, but they were too slow and fragmented, and many families lacked enough suitable devices to support learning at home.

With help from RM Education, the school applied for the government-funded remote learning scheme and went live on Microsoft Teams, accessed through RM Unify. RM Education supported the setup and transition, helping staff begin with online class meetings and remote lesson content, while building confidence for fuller video-based teaching later. The result was a more workable blended learning approach, better staff readiness, clearer parent expectations, and reduced reliance on printed materials, with the school now better equipped for future digital learning.
