Case Study: The FitzWimarc School delivers blended learning with RM Education and Microsoft Teams

A RM Education Case Study

Preview of the The FitzWimarc School Case Study

How a large Academy school in Essex utilised the fully funded DfE scheme to deliver blended learning to their pupils at home and in the classroom, using Microsoft Teams

The FitzWimarc School, a large academy school in Essex, needed to move quickly to effective remote learning when the pandemic forced lessons out of the classroom. Having already worked with RM Education as their technology partner and used Microsoft 365, SharePoint, RM Unify and Microsoft Stream, the school needed a more robust platform to support blended learning and live teaching at home and in school.

RM Education helped the school apply for the DfE-funded support scheme and set up Microsoft Teams for remote learning, including guidance on configuration and user setup. FitzWimarc went live at half-term in the summer term and used Teams for live lessons, staff collaboration and homework, with content delivered once for core in-class teaching and repeated online for pupils at home. The result was a workable blended-learning model, faster content creation, better use of existing tools, and strong staff adoption, with everyone already using Microsoft Teams when they returned to school.
