Case Study: Ashlyns School achieves remote learning readiness with RM Education and G Suite

How a commitment to a robust IT strategy – built around G Suite – prepared a Secondary School in Hertfordshire for the Coronavirus lockdown and all that follows

Ashlyns School, a mixed secondary and sixth form in Hertfordshire, had already begun a long-term move to cloud-based learning before the Coronavirus lockdown, working with RM Education to build a strategy around G Suite, RM Unify and Google Classroom. The school needed a reliable way to support one-to-one blended learning, remote access to its systems, and consistent technology use for staff and pupils.

RM Education helped Ashlyns School implement Chromebooks for all staff, introduce a parental-contribution scheme for Year 7 pupils’ Chromebooks, and support Google Classroom and Google Meet across the school, alongside remote access to SIMS. The result was a rapid transition to remote learning when lockdown began: all Year 7 pupils and staff were ready to work from home immediately, homework was already established on Google Classroom, and the school achieved 96 percent uptake for Year 7 Chromebooks in the first year.
