Embarking on Remote Learning with Google Classroom at an Alternative Provision School in Hull – The Compass Academy

The Compass Academy, an alternative provision school in Hull, needed a way to continue educating KS3 pupils remotely when the COVID-19 shutdown forced classrooms to close. Having already moved to Google Cloud and Chromebooks with support from RM Education, the school was still early in its use of tools such as Google Classroom and needed help adapting quickly to remote learning.

RM Education supported the academy with a Google-based setup, including Google Classroom, Google Meet, device management, password updates and access rights, alongside training and responsive helpdesk support. This enabled staff to set and mark work online, share documents, provide emotional support remotely, and keep learning going with greater efficiency and security; the academy reported a relatively seamless transition, faster Chromebooks, and improved staff confidence and digital skills.
