Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare (JHSMH), a major regional health network headquartered in Louisville with more than 70 facilities and roughly 7,500 employees, faced a fragmented policy environment: each of its five primary hospitals maintained separate policies, over 130 managers were involved in policy creation, the approval process averaged five months with three approval stages, there was no tracking or centralized repository, and searching and reconciliation of duplicate policies was time-consuming. To address these challenges, JHSMH selected RLDatix Life Sciences to provide a policy lifecycle management solution.

RLDatix Life Sciences implemented a centralized Policy Lifecycle Management system that allowed JHSMH to create and store policies in one database, automate and track approval workflows, integrate with Active Directory for user management, and measure turnaround time by individual and department. By April 2011 JHSMH had loaded over 4,500 policies and was nearly finished with implementation, resulting in improved staff efficiency, better policy use and coordination across the five hospitals, and greater visibility into approval times and workflows.
