How Chess.com (Online Gaming) records lessons with experts

Chess.com, the online chess server, news site, learning platform, and social network, needed a way to record remote interviews and lessons with grand masters and expert players around the world. Their earlier setup using OBS, Skype, and Zoom was too technically complex for guests and didn’t give the team the audio/video control they needed.

Chess.com implemented Riverside to simplify remote recording and guest onboarding. With Riverside, they now run pre-interviews to check lighting, audio, and setup, then record sessions in up to 4K with easier guest controls and less production effort; the team was able to fully implement it in just a couple of days. The result was a much smoother workflow, higher-quality recordings, and a system the Director of Media Production said was “a life saver” because he no longer had to spend time adjusting things for guests.
