ZEST Electric Motors, a South African manufacturer and distributor serving customers across sub‑Saharan Africa, faced a WAN that could not keep up with its dispersed branches and growing application demands. Slow application response times, mounting bandwidth costs and limited visibility undermined customer service, collaboration and the IT team’s ability to scale and respond quickly.

Partnering with Dimension Data, ZEST deployed a Riverbed WAN optimisation solution (RiOS) across its head office and 16 branches with a central management console. The rollout reduced bandwidth costs by eliminating unauthorized traffic, accelerated applications through compression and prioritisation, improved user experience and file‑transfer times, and delivered scalable, centrally managed visibility that enabled faster rollout of new applications without purchasing extra bandwidth.
