Case Study: VTB Bank achieves 62% traffic reduction and faster application performance with Riverbed SteelHead

A Riverbed Case Study

Preview of the VTB Bank Case Study

VTB Bank has increased the performance of applications and employees with the help of Riverbed Steelhead

VTB Bank, a major Russian commercial bank with state participation and one of the country’s largest by assets and capital, rolled out automated, centralized workflows across its branches and saw a sharp rise in WAN traffic. With 57 servers in Moscow and 57 in the regions and most inter-branch traffic routed through Moscow, network congestion degraded business-critical application performance and employee productivity.

VTB deployed Riverbed’s Application Performance platform—SteelHead CX appliances, SteelHead Interceptor and SteelCentral/CMC—to optimize and accelerate applications. The solution reduced data transferred by 62%, freed bandwidth for critical and multimedia applications (including over satellite links), improved application responsiveness and employee productivity, and lowered the need for costly bandwidth increases.
