Vinci PLC boosts bandwidth 8x and cuts data recovery time by over two-thirds with Riverbed

Vinci PLC, a UK construction subsidiary of the global VINCI Group, faced challenges with disaster recovery and a fragmented IT network across 30 branch offices. They were unable to implement an effective disaster recovery plan with their existing infrastructure and needed to centralize servers from their many branches into two primary data centers. To address this, they turned to Riverbed and its Steelhead appliances.

Riverbed implemented its solution by installing 30 Steelhead appliances at each branch and using the Central Management Console. This allowed Vinci PLC to consolidate IT infrastructure, reducing 25 file servers down to just three. The results were significant: the data recovery window was cut by over two-thirds, and bandwidth throughput increased by eight times. Riverbed's technology enabled centralized control and much faster application access for users.
