SteelHead Supports Life-Saving Work by Increasing Staff Productivity and Improving Information Given to Donors

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is a global nonprofit dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV and supporting treatment programs, operating across 13 African countries and thousands of local health sites. EGPAF faced severe internet performance and latency issues that made web-based applications unusable, slowed data collection from the field, and delayed the quarterly reports and donor communications that fund its programs.

EGPAF deployed Riverbed SteelHead WAN optimization (27 appliances) after a successful trial in Rwanda, cutting downloads from minutes to seconds and reducing page load times to about 5–8 seconds. The upgrade eliminated paper-based and redundant data entry, sped donor reporting, avoided costly bandwidth upgrades, and removed multiple hosting fees—saving several thousand dollars per month—freeing staff time and funds to focus on core mission work.
