STA Travel is a global travel specialist for students and young people with over 400 branches and more than six million passengers a year; its UK-hosted websites in EMEA receive heavy traffic (around 5,000 page hits per minute) but suffered slow performance, high latency for distant users (notably Australia), and downtime during promotional peaks, causing customer frustration.

The result was a more responsive site with a 50% performance increase for Australian users, more than a 50% reduction in web-server load, a 92% cache hit rate and maximized uptime—avoiding new data-center and hardware costs while improving monitoring, traffic control and the online customer experience.
