Socialbomb, a New York–based social technology company, builds interactive social media experiences that connect viewers’ Blu-ray players, phones and social accounts to share clips and virtual gifts from TV shows. Their popular, traffic-heavy campaigns regularly caused application strain during peak viewer interaction and lacked the logging and metrics needed to manage surges effectively.
Working with Riverbed and Joyent, Socialbomb deployed Riverbed Stingray Traffic Manager on cloud SmartMachines to load-balance SSL traffic, reroute requests for testing, and capture real-time and historical metrics. The solution scaled instantly for spikes, eliminated downtime (including 100% uptime during a major HBO campaign), and gave the team the logging and performance visibility needed to run and manage future campaigns reliably.
