Case Study: Morehouse College achieves secure, high-performance campus Wi‑Fi for learning with Riverbed Xirrus

A Riverbed Case Study

Preview of the Morehouse College Case Study

Secure Reliable Wi-Fi is invisible foundation for learning

Morehouse College, a historic Atlanta liberal arts college founded in 1867, needed a modern, secure Wi‑Fi foundation to support students, faculty and a “cloud‑first” campus. The existing network struggled with the proliferation of smartphones, tablets and streaming devices, so an anonymous technology gift was earmarked to fund a campus‑wide wireless upgrade.

After testing multiple vendors, Morehouse deployed Xirrus access points and cloud management (XMS), gaining faster, more reliable coverage and single sign‑on for campus systems. The upgrade supports 3,000+ users, high‑density classrooms and residence halls, enables flipped‑classroom teaching, simplifies management (including bandwidth controls for streaming) and cuts costs through modular upgrades and rapid deployment kits for events.
