RSM Australia, a national accounting firm with more than 1,000 staff across 29 offices, needed to centralise its document management system but was concerned about the cost, complexity and—most critically—the performance impact of moving to Microsoft Azure. With accountants billing in six-minute units, any slowdown or downtime during the migration and at peak periods was unacceptable.

RSM deployed the Riverbed Application Performance Platform (SteelHead CX for Azure, SteelHead and SteelCentral Controller) and Riverbed Professional Services to replace legacy appliances, optimise cloud traffic and gain visibility into document flows. The migration to Azure was completed with SteelHead optimising traffic in under an hour, delivering zero disruption to users, sustained peak-period performance, simplified monitoring and capacity planning, and a significant reduction in WAN traffic (down to about 58% of prior levels), lowering bandwidth costs.
