Riverbed Steelhead Products Accelerate Citrix XenApp, Allowing Growth without Bandwidth Expansion

Prommis Solutions, a national provider of knowledge-processing services to the real estate finance industry with more than 1,500 employees across 16 U.S. locations, needed to centralize applications from six distributed server rooms into a Chicago co-location. Moving critical systems (Exchange, Dynamics AX, and SQL-based legal case/document management) over the WAN created severe latency—remote logins could take 30+ minutes—so the company sought a WAN optimization solution that could accelerate Citrix XenApp (ICA) and non‑Citrix traffic.

After a pilot, Prommis deployed Citrix XenApp thin clients plus Riverbed Steelhead appliances (11 sites) because Riverbed was able to accelerate ICA traffic in-line.
