Riverbed Steelhead Improves Recovery Point Objective For Capital City Bank

Capital City Bank Group (CCBG), a Florida-based financial services company with about $2.7 billion in assets, faced slow offsite replication to a newly built out-of-state DR site. Replicating seven terabytes of Metavante and Jack Henry files over a 50 Mbps WAN link took 48–72 hours due to high latency, leaving RPOs inadequate and bandwidth upgrades unaffordable.

CCBG deployed Riverbed SteelHead WAN optimization appliances alongside its EMC CLARiiON/MirrorView storage to address latency and reduce data transfer. Replication times fell to 4–6 hours (up to 12x faster), dramatically improving RPOs and enabling recovery within 24 hours while avoiding costly bandwidth upgrades and freeing IT to pursue other initiatives.
