Case Study: Wright-Pierce achieves centralized data access and rapid CAD collaboration with Riverbed Steelhead appliances

A Riverbed Case Study

Riverbed Steelhead Appliances Enable Data Centralization Without Disrupting End Users

Wright-Pierce is a New England–based environmental engineering firm with four offices whose engineers collaborate daily on large CAD-based projects. As the firm expanded, WAN performance could not keep up with opening and sharing large design files, leading to copies scattered across offices, revision-control problems and reduced productivity.

Wright-Pierce deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances at each office, a quick-to-install WAN optimization solution that immediately sped access to central CAD files by orders of magnitude. The appliances enabled a return to a centralized data model—eliminating version-control issues, improving collaboration and productivity, and allowing centralized protection and local-like access to data.
