Case Study: Investor AB achieves centralized IT consolidation and LAN-like remote performance with Riverbed Steelhead appliances

A Riverbed Case Study

Riverbed Steelhead Appliances are the Missing Link for IT Infrastructure Consolidation at Investor AB

Investor AB, the largest industrial holding company in the Nordics with offices across Europe, North America and Asia, struggled to manage costly, widely distributed IT infrastructure while delivering LAN-like performance to remote sites. The IT team wanted to centralize servers and services (a “serverless” office model) without disrupting users, but faced complex application rollouts, heavy dependence on local support and expensive contingency planning.

Investor deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances to replace branch hardware and optimize WAN traffic (data reduction, TCP and protocol optimizations). The appliances were quick to install and delivered LAN-like responsiveness even after moving mailboxes and home directories, enabling consolidation onto regional hubs, simpler global management, lower maintenance costs, improved backup/retention and a phased rollout toward serverless remote offices.
