A Riverbed Case Study
Murphy Pipe and Civil is a leading Australian pipeline construction firm responsible for the largest upstream gas‑gathering network in the country, with roughly 600 staff across multiple remote sites that must be relocated quickly as projects move. The company struggled with poor, high‑cost connectivity (often relying on latency‑ridden satellite), no network visibility or reporting, and the need to run all applications centrally from Brisbane while provisioning new offices in days.
Working with CDM Australia, Murphy Pipe and Civil deployed the Riverbed Application Performance Platform—SteelCentral for end‑to‑end visibility and SteelHead for WAN optimization. The solution enabled rapid site provisioning over simple 3G links, centralized UC/ERP/SharePoint services, real‑time fault detection and remote remediation, smaller preconfigured connectivity kits, and vastly lower WAN costs (now under a quarter of previous spend), while improving collaboration and enabling expansion to the US.
