A Riverbed Case Study
Cox & Kings, a Mumbai‑headquartered travel company established in 1758 with a global MPLS VPN connecting its offices, was struggling with slow response times to legacy business applications (including SAP and email), frequent and costly bandwidth upgrades, and declining end‑user productivity. The IT team needed a way to improve application performance and protect its investment in the existing WAN infrastructure.
The company deployed Riverbed SteelHead appliances across its domestic and international sites, installed SteelHead Mobile on 40 devices, and used the SteelCentral management and Mobile Controller for monitoring and control. The deployment boosted effective bandwidth capacity by about 7.5×, reduced WAN data by roughly 89% (peaking at 98%), eliminated the need for immediate MPLS upgrades, and delivered faster application access and higher user productivity.
