Mondadori France uses Riverbed to make migration to the cloud a reality

Mondadori France, one of Europe’s largest magazine publishers with some 30 titles and an 800‑person team, set out to move the majority of its applications to AWS in Ireland. During initial migrations the Publishing Now system — which handles large text, audio, photo and video files — suffered significant delays for saving, opening and closing files despite two 1 Gbps links, creating a major performance challenge for journalists and production teams.

Working with partner Nelite, Mondadori deployed Riverbed SteelHead CX appliances on each WAN link and in the AWS datacenter to optimize and accelerate file and application flows. The solution made cloud and local transfers comparable in speed, enabled full migration of Publishing Now to the cloud, delivered roughly a 30% productivity gain, and provided scalable, pay‑per‑use capacity that reduced on‑premises server investment, electricity usage and costs.
