Case Study: IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) achieves 80% improved application performance and 4.5× more data throughput with Riverbed

A Riverbed Case Study

IUCN improves application performance by 80% in support of global conservation efforts

IUCN, the global authority on the status of the natural world, needed to modernize IT across 50+ countries to support its high-profile conservation programs. Slow data replication between Swiss data centers, inconsistent remote connectivity, and the need for standardized, secure disaster-recovery and donor-accountable operations threatened application performance and global collaboration.

IUCN deployed Riverbed SteelCentral, SteelFusion and SteelHead to consolidate remote infrastructure, optimize WAN performance and monitor applications. The rollout cut data-center replication from 24 hours to under one hour, improved application response times by 80%, enabled 4.5× more data over the same bandwidth, centralized backups, sped new-site provisioning to under two weeks, and supported better collaboration and sustainability goals.
