Case Study: Intuit achieves flawless tax-season performance and reduces troubleshooting time by more than 80% with Riverbed SteelCentral

A Riverbed Case Study

Preview of the Intuit Case Study

How Intuit Survives Tax Season and Capitalizes on Future Opportunities for Cloud and SaaS

Intuit, maker of TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint, operates 170 business units and about 800 applications and must ensure fast, flawless performance—especially during two intense two-week U.S. tax‑season peaks—while moving more applications to the cloud and SaaS. Delivering online services at scale (they run ~17,000 servers) created a critical need to quickly find and fix performance problems so pages load within Intuit’s two‑second target.

Intuit formed a Performance Analysis Services team and deployed Riverbed SteelCentral (network and app monitoring appliances, AppInternals, NetSensor, Transaction Analyzer and dashboards) plus Riverbed resident engineers in the tax war room. That end‑to‑end visibility lets teams identify root causes in minutes, cut troubleshooting time by more than 80%, enable self‑service dashboards for other groups, support capacity planning and accelerate the company’s SaaS and cloud migration.
