High Density Wi-Fi and BYOD Enriched Learning

Marist College Ashgrove, a 1,700‑student boys’ school near Brisbane, needed to enrich learning with online textbooks, videos and interactive tools but found its wired infrastructure couldn’t support a device for every student. With a small IT team and the desire to support whole‑class connectivity and a BYOD policy, the school required a high‑density, easy‑to‑manage wireless solution that would deliver a great experience for hundreds of simultaneous users.

Marist deployed Xirrus high‑density Wi‑Fi access points and the Xirrus Management System, plus a web dashboard for common apps, enabling campus‑wide access—from classrooms and the library to the auditorium—and support for 802.11ac devices. The result: students and teachers can connect anywhere, JacPLUS and other cloud services run fully, teachers move between rooms without re‑logging, IT overhead is reduced, and BYOD has cut the cost of providing laptops.
