Case Study: Groupe Mornay achieves 10x bandwidth reduction and major productivity gains with Riverbed Steelhead appliances

A Riverbed Case Study

Groupe Mornay chooses Riverbed to improve user productivity and reduce bandwidth costs

Groupe Mornay, a French social welfare organisation serving 1,100 users across six regional divisions, was facing slow application and file access over its WAN despite increasing bandwidth to 45 Mbps. ARAMICE, the shared IT centre, formed a focus group to reduce latency, boost user satisfaction and achieve ROI while also pursuing centralisation without adding proxy servers or complex management.

After live testing four vendors, ARAMICE deployed Riverbed SteelHead appliances (plus the Central Management Console). The solution delivered dramatic gains — a reported 10x reduction in bandwidth use, average file-transfer times reduced by about 85% (files that once took up to 45 minutes now complete in 3–4 minutes), 20x improvements for MAPI/CIFS/HTTP(s), avoidance of costly server/proxy rollouts and an estimated ~65% annual saving on leased bandwidth — all with simple plug‑and‑play deployment and easier ongoing management.
