A Riverbed Case Study
Frontier Airlines, a Denver‑based low‑fare carrier serving dozens of U.S., Mexican and Canadian destinations with roughly 4,800 employees, relied on an MPLS WAN to connect its Denver data center to offices and airports across North America. As the network grew, performance steadily degraded and the airline’s SNMP, device‑centric monitoring left IT “looking through a straw,” unable to see application traffic, pinpoint latency or meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
Frontier engaged INS to install a Riverbed AppResponse Xpert appliance at the Denver data center, giving real‑time and historical visibility by application and location and establishing a performance baseline within a month. The appliance sped root‑cause troubleshooting (including spotting virus‑like activity), improved WAN vendor management, helped justify a network upgrade to executives, and materially raised IT productivity and Frontier’s ability to meet SLOs.
