FM Logistic, a leading independent provider of warehousing, transportation and co-packing with 21,800 employees across 13 countries and €1.034B revenue (FY2016), needed to support ambitious growth targets (€2B by 2022) while managing hundreds of centralized applications. The company faced application performance issues, rising MPLS costs, slow backups and occasional outages that threatened productivity and the ability to roll out new services.

FM deployed Riverbed Path Selection to automatically map 700+ applications into business-priority groups and steer critical traffic over MPLS while offloading less-critical apps to cheaper VPN links. After a PoC and global rollout, FM Logistic reduced MPLS load per endpoint by ~80%, achieved >20% cost savings with a 12-month payback, virtually eliminated outages, boosted application performance and user productivity, and gained the bandwidth and flexibility to introduce new applications quickly.
