A Riverbed Case Study
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is the world’s largest post‑trade infrastructure, providing clearing, settlement and information services for securities and processing millions of transactions worth trillions in assets. To maintain service availability and a secure environment, DTCC needed end‑to‑end visibility into the infrastructure supporting its business‑critical applications—despite extensive use of encrypted communications—and wanted to reduce mean time to repair by mapping users to applications and underlying systems to understand the business impact of outages.
DTCC deployed Riverbed Cascade sensors at strategic LAN and WAN locations to forward flow data without probing every link, giving IT, network, application support and security teams a unified view of application, host and network activity. The solution produced dependency maps, usage profiles and anomaly detection that reveal complex multi‑tier architectures and interdependencies (even for encrypted or custom applications), enabling faster troubleshooting, clearer impact analysis and improved application availability.
