Case Study: Mahoning County achieves county-wide digital transformation and eliminates backup slowdowns with Riverbed SteelFusion

A Riverbed Case Study

Preview of the Mahoning County Case Study

Digital Transformation has Enabled the Entire County Government from the Dog Warden to the Courts to Better Serve Constituents

Mahoning County, Ohio’s IT Department supports 50 county offices across 20 locations and 1,800 employees with a staff of 10. Growing, never-deleted datasets caused backups to spill into the workday, crippling application performance, preventing automation of paper-based offices, and making data-intensive tools like GIS effectively unusable outside the server site.

The county deployed Riverbed SteelFusion Core in the data center and SteelFusion Edge appliances at remote sites, consolidating storage and delivering local-like application performance while keeping all data centrally protected. Backups no longer impact performance, remote offices were digitized (for example, the dog warden moved to a digital case system), GIS and other line-of-business apps are now widely usable, IT maintenance costs and travel were reduced, and county services run faster and more efficiently.
