Rossignol, a global designer and manufacturer of skis, boots, snowboards and technical apparel with ~1,100 employees and €270M turnover, needed to consolidate IT resources from 15 regional offices into a centralized private cloud to cut rising management costs. Leadership worried that moving servers and ERP systems farther from users would degrade application performance and hurt employee productivity due to WAN latency.

Rossignol deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances (with central management) across its data center and branch offices to optimize WAN traffic and centralize ERP, CAD and backups. The rollout delivered dramatic gains — an average 7× improvement in application performance (for example, PDF access dropped from ~50s to 4s and PowerPoint from ~52s to ~9s), a 5× increase in effective bandwidth, removal of local tape backups, reduced IT costs, and improved data security and employee productivity.
