City of Redondo Beach Deploys Xirrus High Performance Wi-Fi to Improve Staff/Public Experience and Operational Efficiency

Xirrus provides high‑performance Wi‑Fi for organizations that need reliable, high‑density wireless access. Customers like Brigham Young University‑Idaho and the City of Redondo Beach faced spotty coverage, confusing access points, and aging controller‑based systems that couldn’t handle growing device counts or varying traffic loads in classrooms, student centers, libraries and outdoor public spaces.

Both customers deployed Xirrus Arrays and APs (nearly 700 units at BYU‑Idaho and 82 across Redondo Beach) to deliver campus‑wide indoor coverage, support thousands of simultaneous devices, and tune radios between 2.4/5 GHz. The result: full, persistent connectivity with far fewer complaints, reduced management and troubleshooting time, lower infrastructure and cabling costs, and new capabilities like application visibility/throttling and support for digital teaching and public Wi‑Fi services.
