Apple Distinguished School in Australia Builds Digital Learning Environment with 1:1 Computing and Xirrus Wi-Fi

Corpus Christi College, a private Catholic coeducational school in Perth, Australia with more than 1,200 students and Apple Distinguished School status, needed a reliable Wi‑Fi foundation to support its 1:1 MacBook/iPad program and digital learning initiatives. The school’s previous network struggled under high device density—once forcing a reschedule of government-mandated tests—prompting a search for a solution that “just works.”

After a proof-of-concept, Corpus Christi deployed a Xirrus Wi‑Fi solution (installed by partner Catalytic IT) that delivers high-density performance, multi-radio access points without a controller, and software-upgradeable support for newer 802.11ac Wave 2 devices. The new network reliably connects 1,800–2,000+ devices, enables cohort-wide online testing, supports iBooks/iTunes U and flipped classrooms, and has given teachers and students confidence to use multiple devices and digital learning tools.
