Case Study: Bellevue Hospital Center achieves faster troubleshooting and end-to-end application visibility with Riverbed SteelCentral AppResponse

A Riverbed Case Study

Preview of the Bellevue Hospital Center Case Study

America’s Oldest Public Hospital

Bellevue Hospital Center, Manhattan’s oldest public hospital, operates a large, multi-site healthcare network serving thousands of inpatients and hundreds of thousands of outpatient and emergency visits each year. Its IT team supports over 5,000 users across LAN and WAN links and hundreds of applications—including large PACS image transfers—but relied on device-oriented tools and lacked end-to-end application visibility, which led to slow troubleshooting, wasted staff time, and frequent misattribution of problems to the network.

Bellevue deployed Riverbed SteelCentral AppResponse appliances at Bellevue, Gouverneur, Coler and Goldwater to capture flow-based, end-to-end application metrics. The appliances and dashboards let staff quickly distinguish server, network, and application issues, speed root-cause identification, reduce unnecessary bandwidth and tool upgrades, improve cooperation with server teams, and significantly boost IT productivity and planning.
