SBV Services, South Africa’s largest cash-management provider, needed to minimize cash holding costs while ensuring the right denominations and supply across urban and rural geographies, managing funding trade-offs, logistics, processing, insurance and Central Bank charges. To tackle this complexity SBV worked with Business Modelling Associates and deployed River Logic technology—using River Logic’s Enterprise Optimizer (EO) inside a Supply Planning Workbench and integrated with Prophecy forecasting—to replace manual processes with an automated predictive-prescriptive planning platform.

River Logic’s EO, fed by Prophecy forecasts and SBV’s forecasting “sandbox,” prescribes daily cash movements, models flows and constraints across cash centers, and operationalizes planning decisions. The implementation delivered roughly a 33% reduction in total costs, saved about ZAR300 million per year by changing the Central Bank operating model, and yielded an additional ZAR70–90 million in annual savings from fee reductions, with the platform now run daily to guide vault, cash-center and distribution activity.
