A Rithum Case Study

Preview of the City Grounds Case Study

Bike Retailer Gains Some Serious Ground In the Midst of a Global Pandemic

City Grounds, a Huntington Beach family‑owned bike retailer founded by Jack Ku, grew from a 500‑square‑foot boutique into a leading online BMX specialist. When COVID‑19 forced its brick‑and‑mortar stores to close, the company needed to rapidly scale e‑commerce operations, protect margins, and manage a surge of orders without compromising customer service.

City Grounds worked with ChannelAdvisor Managed Services to optimize Google and Bing strategies, rebuild Shopping/AdWords at the SKU level, and scale campaigns quickly. The payoff: between March and April the retailer captured 53.65% of the prior year’s total revenue, exceeded its previous Cyber Monday peak for 35 consecutive days, and posted its first six‑figure sales day followed by seven more consecutive six‑figure days.
