Belk Selling More on Google Shopping

Belk, a 125‑year‑old Southern department store based in Charlotte, NC, sought to bring its in‑store reputation and "Modern Southern Style" to a broader online audience. Having only begun a serious push into e‑commerce in 2008, online sales accounted for about 3.5% of revenue and the team lacked the expertise to launch and maintain a Google Shopping program—yet identified Google Shopping as a critical opportunity to reach customers beyond its physical footprint.

Belk partnered with ChannelAdvisor to build and optimize its Google Shopping feed and launched in December with a seamless rollout. ChannelAdvisor’s solution delivered high ROI and significant incremental revenue, making Google Shopping one of Belk’s key e‑commerce channels; as a result, online sales outside Belk’s store footprint are now growing faster than in‑store sales.
