Purdue University, which registers roughly 10,000 students and faculty travel plans annually through one of the largest study-abroad programs in the U.S., faced challenges tracking travelers and ensuring timely communications using a manual SharePoint-based process. The university expanded its long-standing use of Riskonnect’s ClearSight platform and adapted Riskonnect’s incident management app to automate traveler intake, required fields, confirmations, and timely resource emails to address those gaps.

Riskonnect implemented a seamless daily upload from Purdue’s travel system, an intake portal that enforces required information, and automated messaging that sends travel IDs and safety resources at the right time. The solution eliminated manual follow-ups, removed paper forms across functions, and enabled rapid crisis response — Riskonnect helped Purdue quickly locate about 20 people in Israel during the October attack and has since identified travelers in other unrest areas — improving safety oversight and operational efficiency.
