A RiskLens Case Study
Multinational Food Manufacturing Company worked with RiskLens to make a risk-based decision about how to protect its distribution process from a zero-day ransomware attack. The company needed a way to compare two options—investing in controls to improve outage response time or implementing network micro-segmentation—but its traditional risk-ranking approach could not support an executive-level business decision. RiskLens provided a way to quantify the risk in dollars and cents using its FAIR-based risk analysis platform.
Using the RiskLens platform, analysts modeled the ransomware scenario and compared the current state against potential risk-reduction options. RiskLens showed an average annualized loss exposure of $33.6M, with improved response time reducing that risk by $13.0M and micro-segmentation reducing it by $18.4M. The analysis gave executive management clear, financial evidence to support a control investment decision and helped build a compelling business case for the Board.
