Learning Institution Assesses Best Architecture To Secure Cloud App

Learning Institution worked with RiskLens to evaluate the security risk of different cloud data encryption architectures for a Salesforce-based application. The challenge was to understand how much confidentiality risk was associated with protecting sensitive customer data, and to compare the tradeoffs between CipherCloud encryption, Salesforce database-level encryption, and no encryption.

Using the FAIR model, RiskLens quantified the annualized loss exposure for each option to support business-driven security decisions. The analysis showed that CipherCloud had the lowest average annual risk at £24k, compared with £521K for Salesforce encryption and £727K for no encryption, helping the Learning Institution prioritize security investments and choose the most appropriate architecture.
