Healthcare Services Company Evaluates Business Continuity Plans

Large Healthcare Supplier worked with RiskLens and its FAIR-based risk analysis platform to address a business continuity challenge at a key fulfillment facility that faced natural disaster and transportation-related outage risks. With several possible recovery options on the table, the team needed a defensible way to compare alternatives and determine which would best reduce the risk of operations going offline.

Using RiskLens, the Business Continuity Team quantified current outage losses and modeled three continuity strategies to compare risk reduction against implementation cost. RiskLens showed that increasing capacity at other facilities was the most cost-effective option, even though renting a nearby building reduced risk the most; the chosen strategy avoided an extra $1.2M in cost for only about $600K more in average risk reduction, and senior management approved the recommendation within months.
