How AKOMEYA TOKYO propelled its ecommerce growth strategy with Riskified

AKOMEYA TOKYO, a Tokyo-based retailer of high-quality traditional foods, ingredients and cookware, experienced a surge in fraudulent transactions after COVID-19. Despite using a local scoring solution in Japan, the company faced rising chargebacks, falling authorization rates and an increasing manual-review burden, so AKOMEYA TOKYO engaged Riskified and its Chargeback Guarantee to tackle these problems.

Riskified implemented its AI-powered Chargeback Guarantee and fully automated AKOMEYA TOKYO’s fraud operations, assuming liability for fraudulent orders. As a result, AKOMEYA TOKYO achieved a 4.5% increase in order approval rate, an 11.6% increase in bank authorization rate, and chargebacks fell from 1.22% before Riskified to 0% in the first eight months after onboarding Riskified.
