Case Study: David Suzuki Foundation achieves streamlined HR administration and time savings with Rise People

A Rise People Case Study

Why a well-known non-profit organization uses Rise

The David Suzuki Foundation is a well-known Canadian environmental non-profit with a collaborative, flexible workplace — including a four-day work week — supporting about 90 employees across three offices and remote locations. That flexibility created HR headaches: time-off requests, time in lieu, vacation and sick leave were tracked by Excel and generated roughly 50 emails a week to HR, making administration slow and error-prone.

The Foundation implemented Rise People HRIS (time-off tracking, payroll and group benefits), giving employees direct access to their leave balances and self-serve booking while integrating time-off data with payroll. The result: spreadsheets and inbox overload were eliminated, HR saved significant time, transparency and ease of use improved for staff, and the organization has since migrated its group benefits onto the Rise platform.
