What Rise Learned From Protecting the Ocean With CPAWS

Rise partnered with CPAWS BC for a World Oceans Day shoreline cleanup at English Bay to confront local ocean pollution. Braving the rain, the team gathered a large volume of debris—chiefly cigarette butts (around 95% of findings) along with plastics, styrofoam and take-out waste—underscoring the scale and persistence of coastal litter and its environmental harm.

To address this, Rise closed the office early and joined CPAWS BC’s organized cleanup, collecting trash while learning about pollution impacts and reinforcing company values of simplicity, honesty and community. The effort removed significant litter from the shore, strengthened team cohesion and awareness, and left employees more committed to everyday actions that protect the local coastline.
