Gator Apple, the franchisee operating 41 Applebee’s restaurants in Georgia and Florida, struggled with phone-system complexity: each location had a different setup and billing cycle, leaving controller Maureen Jackson overwhelmed by reconciling 41 separate phone bills each month.
In summer 2012 Gator Apple moved to RingCentral’s hosted VoIP, consolidating all locations onto one cloud phone system and one monthly invoice. The switch cut phone costs by $7,000 a month, simplified call transfers and customer feedback handling across restaurants, and freed funds for advertising and store promotion — a change the company says it wishes it had made sooner.
