A RingCentral Case Study
SCM Insurance Services, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Edmonton with about 2,600 employees, is Canada’s largest independent claims management firm. As it grew through acquisitions to 120 branches, SCM ended up with a patchwork of legacy phone systems and a largely field-based workforce (60%), which left adjusters unreachable away from their desks, fragmented SMS communications on personal phones, visibility gaps in case files, and rising telecom costs from dormant numbers and toll-free/long-distance charges.
SCM deployed RingCentral MVP (Message, Video, Phone) and RingCentral Video to unify communications, capture SMS via integrations and APIs, and rapidly provision local numbers for mobilized staff. The result: a 50% reduction in costs by removing dormant numbers and controlling telecom spend, faster local responsiveness during disasters, consolidated case histories that mitigate risk, and improved team collaboration and client engagement through video and shared communication tools.
